The brief
The family needed a fourth bedroom without giving up garden to an extension.
The challenge
Limited head height on the stairs and a family living in the house throughout.
How we did it
A rear dormer under permitted development avoided planning. We built the dormer before opening up inside so the house stayed weathertight, and set the new stair over the existing one.
The outcome
A full-height bedroom and ensuite, signed off by Building Control, with very little disruption downstairs.
